Provide & Coordinate Social & Emotional Learning & Mental Health

Students and families of the Buffalo Public Schools (BPS) are faced with an unprecedented set of circumstances. They are currently experiencing multiple extraordinary and intertwined events – a global pandemic, economic crisis, and ongoing mobilization against police violence and other forms of anti-black and systemic racism. As a result, all of our students and their families have been affected in some way. Some have missed major milestones with their friends and family members, others have experiences enormous loss – of loved ones, of jobs, of their health and physical or psychological safety. These challenges have had a tremendous impact to the social/emotional wellbeing of students. For many of our students this has added an additional layer of trauma and stress.

Social emotional learning offers a critical foundation for supporting students and families in the midst of great uncertainty and stress. Mental health supports offer coping skills for students struggling with depression, anxiety or trauma. For these reasons, the Buffalo Public Schools is seeking proposals from organizations that offer social/emotional learning, mental health supports for students and their families, including the coordination of these supports.
