2023 Urban and Community Forestry 5 Ash Tree Management in Disadvantaged Communities


The Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Division of Lands and Forests is pleased to announce funding for projects that will implement Ash tree management in disadvantaged communities.

The goal of this project is to manage community ash trees that could pose safety risks: removal and replanting, and treatment. A community forest management plan and tree inventory are not required for this project.

Applications must be submitted in the NYS Grants Gateway by the following due date: 2:00 P.M January 31, 2024. Community Forest Management Plan projects are not required to provide match. Questions regarding this grant opportunity will be accepted by the DEC until C.O.B. on January 9, 2024. All questions and answers will be available in the Grants Gateway for all applicants to view. Your local DEC Urban Foresters are available to provide technical assistance throughout the open grant period.
