NYSDOT Preliminary Advertisement of the I-81 Viaduct Project - Contract 3

The I-81 Viaduct Project (Community Grid) – contract 3 Business Loop 81 Northern Section – Phase 1, is the third contract related to the conversion of the section of I-81 between the southern I-81/I-481 Interchange (Interchange 16A) and the northern I-81/I-481 Interchange (Interchange 29) to Business Loop 81 (BL 81), and redesignation of the existing I-481 as I-81.  This project will reconstruct Court St., Spencer St., and Bear St. bridges over existing I-81 and construct a new bridge from Bear St. to BL-81 NB, as well as reconstruct both N. Clinton St. and Genant Dr. from Genant Dr. to Bear St.  Genant Dr. will be modified during the reconstruction and will no longer provide a continuous connection between Bear St. and N. Clinton St.  New on and off ramps from BL-81 SB (existing I-81 SB) to N. Clinton St. will be constructed.  Rehabilitation work on Bear St. is also included between BL-81 and I-690, and there will be pedestrian and bicycle improvements throughout the project area.  The anticipated letting date for this project is November 2, 2023.  Preliminary Plans are available at https://www.dot.ny.gov/portal/page/portal/doing-business/opportunities/const-notices
