BNIA - Salt Barn Replacement

The Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority (“NFTA”) will receive bids on a general contract for the BNIA – Salt Barn Replacement.

The existing salt barn storage facility located on the airside of the Buffalo Niagara International Airport has exceeded its useful lifespan and requires replacement.  This facility is critical for storing de-icing materials essential for maintaining safe operating conditions during winter weather events. The project work provides for demolition, removal, and construction of a new salt storage barn at the airport.

The Contractor shall perform not less than 30% of the work with its own forces.
The time of completion for the project is 120 calendar days after receipt of the Notice to Proceed. Liquidated damages in the amount of $1,000 per calendar day will be assessed against the Contractor for its failure to complete the project within the time specified.

The Contract Documents can be found on the NFTA’s Engineering Branch website at www.nftaengineering.com. Online registration is required to become a Document Holder and obtain Contract Documents. Copies of the Contract Documents are available for $25 and may be requested from Cindy Cirbus at 716-855-7342 or fax 716-855-7447 or downloaded from the NFTA’s Engineering Branch website. Requests may be accompanied by certified check, cashier’s check or postal money order drawn in favor of the NFTA. This sum is non-refundable. The Contract Documents may be picked up Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to Noon and 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., or sent via courier billed to the requester.

The NFTA goals for this procurement are: New York State Certified Minority Business Enterprise 18.0%, New York State Certified Women-Owned Business Enterprise 12.0% and New York Certified Service Disabled Veterans Owned Businesses 3.0%.
