Issue Date: 03/03/2025 Contract Number:

24/25-126MC RFI Provision of Electric and Thermal Energy

Description:

This Request for Information (“RFI”) is a formal, non-competitive informational inquiry that is being released by Stony Brook to determine interest and obtain input for a competitive procurement to transform its existing energy infrastructure to one that is more consistent with the State’s clean energy objectives.  Upon receipt and review of information received, the University will determine whether and how to proceed. Submittal of an RFI is not a condition for future consideration as a potential provider of the services contemplated herein. Consequently, it is understood and agreed that no obligation or commitment is made by Stony Brook University to any Respondent submitting a Response to this RFI.

The new portfolio or configuration must be fully operational by March 31, 2030, with all testing completed prior to that date.

The University’s preferred approach is through a portfolio of resources which could consist of utility scale renewable energy resources, distributed renewable energy resources, energy efficiency, and/or energy storage.

As for renewable resources, Stony Brook is open to considering all types of commercially viable technologies, including combinations of different technologies.  It is critical that interruptions and fluctuations in the energy delivered across the campus be avoided to the maximum extent possible, and that there is a high confidence level in the ability of the portfolio to serve the campus’ energy needs.

The information discussed in this meeting is not intended or considered for award or any contract or services to be performed.

The University will conduct a site visit of the Main Campus and the Cogen Plant on April 3, 2025, starting at 10:00 am.  The starting location for the site visit will be at the Campus Operations & Maintenance Conference Rm., WCPP Service Bldg #7, 126 Service Road Stony Brook NY 11794. For any Respondent that is interested in attending the site visit please notify the Designated Contact by March 27, 2025.
