RFQ 1216 Low Vision Examinations and Low Vision Aid ServicesDescription: The New York State Office of Children & Family Services (OCFS) announces a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for qualified providers that are willing to provide Low Vision Examinations and Low Vision Aid Services to individuals who are legally blind. The NYSCB is the state entity designated to provide services to New Yorkers who are legally blind. NYSCB requires Low Vision Examinations and Low Vision Aid Services for legally blind individuals referred by NYSCB for the purpose of maximizing the use of their residual vision. These services are provided by NYSCB when necessary for the achievement of the vocational goal. Low vision services are frequently medically necessary to increase a person's visual functioning and the ability to perform daily living activities such as self-care; mobility in the home and community; and reading. This advertisement is public notice that OCFS is seeking to award providers to provide Low Vision Examinations and Low Vision Aid Services statewide. The purpose of this solicitation is to invite any eligible and interested entities that believe they can satisfy this program’s needs to inform OCFS by a Letter of Interest (LOI). To be considered responsive, your organization’s LOI should be received no later than the deadline specified on the first page of this announcement. OCFS intends to contract with all qualified bidders based on the criteria outlined in this announcement.
