Elevator Upgrades - Parking Garage and Federal Building


Description:

SUNY System Administration would like to contract with Engineering Consultants to develop contract documents for the following scope of work: 

  1. Review the Federal Building elevators 1 and 2 and the Parking Garage elevators 1 and 2 to develop a full condition assessment of each car, pit, traction and hydraulic systems, machine rooms, and controls.
  2. Make recommendations for repairs, replacements, and reuse of existing equipment.
  3. Develop phased construction documents based on the previously mentioned condition assessments and recommend architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and alarm/detection repairs to each elevator and machine room, ensuring that they meet NYS Code.
  4. Upgrade the cab interiors.
  5. Add BMS connectivity and future card access capability.
  6. Provide cost estimates with each submission.
  7. Bidding phase contract administration.
  8. Construction phase contract administration.

A non-mandatory walk-through is available for those interested bidders on Friday, October 10, 2025.  

The walk-through will occur between 1 PM and 2 PM on October 10, 2025.  To join the walk-through, please meet at the main entrance of the H. Carl McCall SUNY Building, 353 Broadway, Albany, New York 12246.

The consultant will be tasked with studying and documenting the existing conditions (with hazardous material testing and destructive testing as needed). Working through the design with phased document submissions, including cost estimates. The deliverables will be a permit application and stamped bid documents that meet all applicable NYS Building Codes.

The Bidding phase includes answering prospective bidder questions and producing addenda as needed during the bidding process 

The Construction Administration phase includes field visits during construction, tracking and reviewing shop drawings and submittals, tracking and responding to requests for information, tracking and reviewing change orders, and producing supplemental instructions, bulletins, job drawings, and/or field reports as needed.

MBE, WBE, and SDVOB goals are set as 16%, 14% and 6% respectively. 

It is the policy of the State of New York and the State University of New York to encourage minority business enterprise participation in this project by contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers, and all bidders are expected to cooperate in implementing this policy.

The State University of New York reserves the right to reject any or all bids, and to make no award.
